Found Letters
VCD 2 | Typography For a typography class, we were asked to create a themed encyclopedia showcasing 10 different letterforms for each letter of the alphabet taken from our surroundings (sourced from magazines, billboards, signs, printed materials, etc.). I took inspiration from Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel and illustrated a catalogue of elements, characters, and objects from the film according to each letter of the alphabet. I constructed the key cabinet by hand, wrote the copy for each entry, and laser-cut the paper pockets on the keys. To incorporate the found letters, I laser-cut the letters in the color scheme of the film and placed them inside the pockets that can be found on the back of the key tags.
