Elliptical Interface Redesign

VCD 7 | Interaction Design In order to improve upon an existing interface, I redesigned the elliptical in my dorm's workout room. While the machine functions at a basic level, the interface is neither attractive nor intuitive. Users have difficulty accessing settings due to the confusing display, and logical functions are not readily apparent due to the I saw an opportunity to redesign the hierarchy of the interactive components, as the groupings were very illogical and it made the control surface difficult and confusing to use.

I began the design process by examining the existing interface and noting the issues that a series of volunteer users came across while using the elliptical. I then created task flow diagrams to display the current steps that were necessary for a user to perform various tasks.

I then asked two volunteers to help test the existing interface, one with elliptical experience, and one without, and identified their main issues with the interface.
